TFA for students starting September 2025

For students applying to start at AUC in September 2025, you should apply for a TFA after you have submitted your application for admission to AUC. You should apply for a TFA before the deadline of 1 April 2025 even if you are still waiting to hear a decision on admission from the Admissions Committee. The application form for Talent Fellowships starting in September 2025 is now open.

Documents and information needed

You will need:

  1. Your letter of motivation for the Talent Fellowship in digital format and ready to upload.
  2. A document showing you are eligible for an additional grant (aanvullende beurs) from DUO in digital format and ready to upload. This information will be kept strictly confidential.
  • 1. Letter of motivation

The ASF Selection Committee will only see this letter of motivation and they will not see your application for admission to AUC. Make sure you include everything you want to say to them in this letter. This is the most important part of your Talent Fellowship application and you must write it yourself. The ASF Selection Committee will be looking for information on:

    • your academic ability (your academic merit)
    • your motivation to study liberal arts and sciences at AUC
    • demonstrated ambition and passion for learning (your commitment to developing leadership activities, excelling academically, and becoming an exemplary and engaged member of the community)
    • your extracurricular accomplishments and activities relevant for AUC (individual accomplishments and contributions to the community, your [potential] leadership profile and skills, and your communication skills)

The letter of motivation should be a maximum of 2 sides in A4 format and written in English. Please make sure it has your full name at the top, and it needs to be in a digital format (e.g. PDF) that is ready to upload with a maximum file size of 2 MB.

  • 2. Financial threshold

This information will be kept strictly confidential. Only the fact that you meet this criterion will be revealed to the Selection Committee members, and only to them. They will not see the document(s) you send, and these will only be used internally for verification purposes.

    • You need to receive or be eligible for an additional grant (aanvullende beurs) from DUO to be eligible for a Talent Fellowship at AUC.
    • You need to submit proof of this: either the official statement from DUO, or if you do not have that yet, the result of the calculation from the DUO website. If you are awarded a Talent Fellowship, you will have to provide a copy of the official statement from DUO before being able to receive any payments.
    • Make a digital version of the proof, e.g. a scan that is ready to upload with a maximum file size of 5 MB.
    • Make sure your name is clearly indicated on all documents. They will only be used internally for verification and will not be sent to the Selection Committee.
